3. Let me... 我来……

Let me get the doctor. (我去叫医生。)

"Let me..."有时还可用于警告,如:

Let me catch you bullying my brother again. (下次再让我看到你欺负我兄弟的话,有你好看的。)

Let's的否定句型"let's not"也可以用来提出建议。

The following sentence pattern is most commonly used all by itself. When someone is too enthusiastic about a bad idea, it is common to hear someone say coldly "Let's not!"

Let's not make a big deal out of this. (我们不要小题大做。)

Let's not let our country down. (让我们不要让祖国失望。)

  1. I want to... 我想……
    I want to be somebody.(我想出人头地。)
    Notice that sentence patterns with "I want" don't usually involve people. When you are dealing with people, "I'd like" is usually a better choice.

    I am honored to be here on such a special occasion. (我很荣幸在这个特别的时刻来到这里。)

    这个句型也可以说成"It's my (great) honor to..."

    6. I know I speak for... 我知道我在为……说话。

    I know I speak for the president and all the employees. (我知道我是代表着经理和所有的员工在说话。)

    10. ... means a great deal to... 对……意义重大。

    This project means a great deal to our company. (这项目对我们公司来说意义重大。)


    1. You might as well... 你还不如……为好。

    "might as well" 是个惯用语,意为"还是……好;不妨" ,后面接动词原形使用。

    2. What it boils down to is... 总而言之……

    "boil down"的愿意是煮掉一些水分,这让我们想起了一个化学实验:在烧杯里放一些盐水,然后用酒精灯加热,煮啊煮啊,水煮干了,烧杯底下出现白色的氯化钠。这一比喻,你就知道这个句型中的"boil down to"是怎么回事儿了。如果长时间的讨论或争论最后只证明一件事情或一个问题,则我们就可以用这个句型。

    A: I just don't understand why my idea was rejected. It really is a terrific opportunity for the company.

    B: What it boils down to is we don't have enough money.

    5. What I'm getting at is... 我的意思是……

    A: What I'm getting at is I think we should break up. 我的意思是说,我想我们应该分手了。

    B: Good, I think so too. Thank you for not beating around the bush! 很好,我也这么认为。感谢你的直爽!

    6. Let me fill you in on... 我来告诉你……

    A: Let me fill you in on what's been happening here. 我来告诉你这里发生了什么。

    B: Please do! I'm dying to know what's going on. 说吧!我正渴望了解所发生的一切呢。

    7. Perhaps I'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong, but... 恐怕我有点多管闲事,但是……

    8. Could I possibly impose on you to...? 麻烦你……好吗?

    注:酒醉或吃药后,多会用"Sober up"。"Wake up!"或"Wake up and smell the coffee!"则是"脑袋里在想什么呀,醒醒吧你!"用来训斥别人面对现实。
